Pumpkin Carving at the Michaels

Clara was very excited to carve pumpkins.  She went to town wiping them all down and getting them all ready to go, but as soon as Daddy cut into them, she really wasn't all that interested in participating.  We were really not all that shocked because this was the same stance she took last year.  She gave the scraping part a try once Daddy had all the "guts" out, but wasn't all that interested.

As part of our "Boo" gift Clara we got a fun felt pumpkin decorator kit and it was really more her style...

While Daddy worked away on the complicated designs we picked out... yes, one was a lovely princess carving, Ariel in fact, to match Clara's beloved costume, us girls enjoyed some of our favorite Halloween books.  This spooky little one captivates them both!

Next, it was Janie's turn to get messy in the pumpkin and she loved it!  She was surprisingly hesitant at first, maybe because she was just up from her nap, but she dove right in and kept taking the pumpkin guts in and out of the bowl.  She also got a little bowl and started collecting the pumpkin seeds - Smart little gal!

Meanwhile, Clara was more content curled up on the couch with some Dora and Olivia the Pig.

Our sweet lil' pumpkin baby!  We really should have tried this last year and maybe she would have fit!

The finished jack-o-lanterns.  The complicated designs by Daddy and the freehand funny face by Mommy!
