Eating My Words…

DSC_0443

Last week I did something I swore that I would NEVER do… I bought a pair of Disney Princess Shoes for Clara. We are in full-on princess mode here in the Michael household and while Clara has Princess PJ’s, undies and play dresses, these are all things that are not really worn out of the house…

Clara's feet have grown so much that none of her shoes are really play appropriate. We were with Grandma Jan at the store and right after I mentioned the need for these shoes, we turned the corner and Clara spotted them. At first I had her believing that they didn’t have them in her size, but after some difficult internal dialog, I “found” a pair in her size. Oh the excitement!! As we walked away with these fancy shoes, Grandma Jan snickered to me, “Never say never.”

Parenting is funny that way, making you change your mind about something in such a drastic way. This isn’t the first, and is sure not to be the last. This time, watching the way my little girl cherishes these silly shoes far outweighs any princess fashion faux pas.

I am totally with you. I was "never" going to put my child in pink, "never" going to let her dress up in princess dresses, "never" let her get down and run around at a restaurant, etc.

The eating my words ship has sailed a while ago at the Wine house. :)
