Getting Ready for the Holiday

As the girls get older, every element of the holidays becomes even more fun than the year before.  This year Clara really vividly remembered all the fun elements of the last holiday season and was so excited for each.  We were visited by our Elf on the Shelf, Twinkle and we get our Advent Calendar back out.  She was SO excited to open it every day that the questioning began ("Can I open my advent?") the moment she woke up when the goal was to wait until Daddy was home from work to open it.  Some days it was filled with a candy treat but we always had some fun family holiday activity, from reading Christmas books, singing holiday tunes to having hot cocoa or making a fun craft.  Next year it will be really fun to involve Janie more!

Our sweeties in their Christmas PJ's

We had a fun time decorating our Christmas tree together!  Clara did a great job hanging ornaments and when she was done, the highest density or ornaments were right around her eye level.  She felt so proud of her work and as parents it was incredible to share this tradition with our little lady.  Of course, Janie knew that she didn't want to sleep through this activity that the rest of us were having fun doing.  We ended up buckling and allowing her to stay up a little longer and join us from her high chair.

Daddy & Clara, hanging some of the special ornaments including the apple and pear in honor of Grandpa Murray!  He will always be a part of our Christmas traditions.

Clara hangs them high and the tree and Janie is excited over her Minnie Mouse ornament Grandma & Grandpa brought her back from Disneyland.  It didn't take her long to say "Min-eeee Mow" and point to it on the tree.  Clara received an Ariel and talked to her on the tree every day.  Grandma knew it was a good choice for our little gal...

The 2011 Michael Family Christmas tree, even more special than in years past because we all had a hand in decorating.  We let the girls stay up past their bed times to be a part of  in the process and made a special memory in the process.
