Christmas Re-Do

The day after Christmas sure felt a lot like Christmas this year.  Most of us were together as a family (without the oldest nephews Jason & Zac), We ate lots of yummy food, played games, opened gifts and even played in the snow!

Kevin, Amy & Sherri always talk about Carols amazing Syrian bread that they remember from their childhood.  Carol decided it was time we all learn to make it and so we had a family cooking lesson.  The recipe is fairly simple, it just seems to be all about the hot oven, cooking tile and rolling the dough.  It was a time consuming process but with lots of hands it was a super fun thing to do together!  And the bread did not disappoint.  It was far better than any pita or flat bread I have ever had!

Elmer & Kev toasted Murray with some scotch!

Kevin & the kids went outside to play in the snow.  Even Janie got into all the fun with her big cousins.  She was packing and making snowballs in no time.

The snow was perfect for making a snowman, too!

The kids came in from the snow ready to open gifts!

Grandma Carol gave Clara her first American Girl doll ("Scout") and Janie her own Bitty Baby ("Liesl" that sounds more like "weasel")!  They were both tickled!

Grandma Carol also has a tradition of getting each family a game for Christmas.  This year it was our Hungry Hungry Hippo year - fun stuff!  Amy's kids got this fun game called Headbandz and we all enjoyed playing it!  The kids, and Kev, looked to silly playing I had to take photos!

We ended up just making it a day trip, but it was a wonderful day of family fun and I really don't think the kids noticed our change of plans, deeming it a perfect Christmas Re-Do!
